Kentucky Heritage Program!
In the Kentucky Heritage program Big Sandy brings the rich culture and heritage to local schools by bringing in local folk artists to share with the students.

Read Around Program!
The Read Around Program is a program that Big Sandy participates in and provides for our First graders in the community. The Read Around Program gives students the opportunity to have a one on one contact to help with their reading.

Educational Program!
Big Sandy RECC and Touchstone Energy® offer a unique environmental education program designed to inform children and teachers about Kentucky's "little critters." Currently, we offer the program for school children in 4th grade throughout our service territory. The Reptiles and Amphibians of Kentucky!
Our most popular program. It is approximately 40 minutes in length and it incorporates live animals for the kids to handle. The program is divided between a twenty-minute slide presentation and twenty minutes of "critter handling." The animals that we bring are all harmless creatures including frogs, salamanders and snakes. We do not bring venomous snakes unless requested. The purpose of this program is to teach about the physiological differences between reptiles and amphibians and their niche in Kentucky's environment. At the conclusion of this program, each student receives a complimentary poster of the frogs of Kentucky.

Educating our students to be safe around indoor and outdoor electricity.
